Energy Independence and Security Act Requirements – July 1st, 2008

Recently, the U.S. government passed the Energy Independence and Security Act

(Public Law 110-140). The purpose of the regulation, in part, is "to move the United States

toward greater energy independence and security, to increase the production of clean

renewable fuels, to protect consumers, to increase the efficiency of products, buildings, and

vehicles…"

As a result, external power supplies (transformers) manufactured on or after July 1st, 2008

must meet increased environmental efficiency standards – Level 4 efficiency. Please refer to
